Music

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth;
break forth into joyous song and sing praises.
Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre,
with the lyre and the sound of melody.

First Lutheran offers opportunities to be involved in the worship and music life of the congregation for all ages. Below are descriptions of the different groups at the church; if you are interested in joining a group, or would like more information, please contact Janine Norwood, our Director of Music Ministries.

Sanctuary Choir

This choir is open to anyone in 9th grade or older and sings at 1-2 services per month.  Rehearsals take place in the choir room every Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Praise and Worship Team

Members of the Praise and Worship Team help in leading liturgies and the songs for worship at our three services.  Rehearsals are on Sunday morning prior to the 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. services.

Children’s Choir

Children in grades one through eight are invited to come and sing in the Children’s Choir.  This group meets in the Sanctuary on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 – 6:30 p.m. and is directed by our Music Director, Janine Norwood.  This choir sings throughout the year during our 10:30 a.m. worship service and at other special services and events.

Instructional Handbells

This is a group that is for youth in grades 2 – 8 and meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:00 p.m.  The handbells play during worship throughout the year.

High School/Adult Handbells

This group meets on Wednesday evenings from 7:15-8:00 p.m.  Any high school student or adult is welcome to come ring and make a joyful noise.  This group also plays during worship services throughout the year.
