Little Learners Preschool is an independently run school that operates out of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church building.
Center Certification
Little Learners Preschool meets certification requirements set by the Department of Human Services and is licensed under the State of Michigan. The preschool was formed in 1971 by Kay (Richards) DeLong and Evelyn (Gish) McKibben as an instrument of the outreach of First Lutheran Church. We are a nonprofit, nonsectarian, interracial venture.
Our Endeavors for Your Child and With Your Child
- Promote social interaction and emotional growth through casual and purposeful play experiences and thoughtfully planned activities to aid in establishing friendships with preschool children and adults other than immediate family members.
- Inspire and expand the child’s verbal expression and vocabulary through dramatic play, music time, group games, finger-plays and hands-on materials.
- Provide learning centers with motivational activities and expressive materials at each child’s developmental level to build important foundations for future reading skills and academic pursuits.
- Furnish challenging child-scaled equipment with the careful guidance of a teacher trained to aid in developing large and small muscle skills.
- Encourage creativity and provide opportunities for the development of independence, confidence, a sense of self worth and respect for the rights and differences of others.
- Stimulate each child’s curiosity through enjoyable classroom experiences and special guests which instill a keener awareness and a heightened perception of the natural/physical world.
Office Hours
We are available to talk to you before 8:45 a.m. and after 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Our class hours are the following:
- Morning Session: 8:55 a.m. arrival; 11:30 a.m. dismissal
- Afternoon Session: 12:10 p.m. arrival; 2:45 p.m. dismissal
