Synod Assembly Update

 5/21/2013   It’s all over. Pastor Bill was not elected bishop. Craig Satterlee was elected. It was a wild, emotional ride.

5/20/13 9:15 p.m. Things have changed now. Pastor Bill in the third ballot rose to third and is not far from the other two candidates. Craig Satterlee is now in first place. Tomorrow there will be a question and answer session. The election will be determined by that time.

5/20/13 4:00 p.m. The second ballot for bishop has occurred. Pastor Bill moved up to fourth place, a long way from the top contender, Andreas Teich. Speeches were now just given. These may have an impact on the next ballot, which will occur early this evening.

5/20/13 1:00 a.m. The nominating ballot for the bishop has been completed, and the results are in. Pastor Bill was in fifth place after that ballot. Andreas Teich was in first place. The next ballot will determine the direction of the election.

2013 Vacation Bible School

Get ready to enter the epic adventure that empowers kids to stand strong for God at Kingdom Rock VBS!  You’re invited to join us at First Lutheran, June 23^rd through June 27^th.  At Kingdom Rock, God’s victorious power isn’t a fairy tale – it changes kids forever! We’re welcoming kids who will be 4 years old by September 1^st to those who will be entering 5^th grade next fall and we’d love to have your child join the adventure!

 Kids will be able to:

• Experience the daily Bible story in a surprising, unforgettable way!
• Sing and dance to classic worship songs and brand new praise songs!
• Play tournament games that connect with the daily Bible verse!

Dates: Sunday, June 23^rd through Thursday, June 27^th

Times: 5:30-8:15 p.m. (dinner served at 5:30, opening starts at 6:00)

Cost: $5 per child or $15 for families with more than three children

Please register early!  For planning purposes pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Registration deadline is June 16, 2013. Just fill out a registration form and turn it in at the church office. 

Stony Lake:
Elementary and Confirmation Summer Camp 2013

We are excited to think about summer, running around outside in shorts, swimming, and CAMP!

Our week for camp this summer is July 14^th-19^th.

Included below is information from camp regarding the on-line registration and rates for camp.
Parents will have to complete the on-line registration for each child interested in going to camp this summer.
Our church will provide $50 towards the cost of camp for each camper and help with fundraisers.  Each child can
earn money by participating in these fundraisers which the church will send to camp towards their cost for camp.

We’re proud to provide you with the convenience of on-line registrations beginning in 2013! Staring January 15 you can create a parent  account, sign your child up for camp, and fill out the necessary forms required for their participation in programs. Our registration process opens January 15,  2013 and spots fill on a first come, first serve basis. Payment in full by the discount deadline (March 15) is required to secure the discount rate.

We have a very active youth program at First Lutheran that encompasses children of all ages.  For more information on our youth groups, please click on this link.

Supportive Ministries

First Lutheran Church supports the practices of a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Spiritual Director.  The services of the Spirtual Director can be received in our church building. The services of the counselor are available off-site. If you are interested in utilizing services from either of our providers, please click here  for details and contact information.
